If you choose a certain way of life, it's actually quite common to have work utterly consume your life. Work hours are already 14h. In between, you think mostly about work. You fall asleep listing down all the things you have to do the next day. You wake up already thinking about what you'll need to accomplish that day. On weekends, even when you don't have to work, you can't relax.
In any case, work is work. I've seen this happen to a lot of people. Some stay sane and somehow manage to salvage their lives. Others become a drone and live out the rest of their lives like a robot, never enjoying anything and forsaking their families. Some escape midway, after switching priorities and realizing there is more to life than work.
I don't want to become boring.
I want life to always fascinate me, I wants to think, and smile and laugh a lot. I want to read a lot, have different point of views, see strange and amazing things.
So yeah, I think the journey matters. And I think it's possible to have the best of both worlds. To take pride and satisfaction in your work and to enjoy and always look at life in wonder.
It may take a little bit more effort than what a lazybone like me is used to but I don't want to wake up one day and realize that life has passed me by and that I've become a sad, bitter, lonely person.
Money can't buy everything.
