it's never a good idea to leave a half filled glass on a table. dust might get in, someone might spill it etc.
even worse idea to leave it by the side of the bed, especially if you have wild hand waving tendencies while asleep.
this could only be made worse if you also place your laptop by the side of the bed.
it all get surprisingly meddlesome (and surprisingly common, now that i've googled it) if that drink in the half filled glass is Coke.
because it turns out, Coke is a conductive, corrosive liquid gorged up in acid and sugar.

i'm doomed! i didn't have time to do more than wipe the surface with a wet tissue this morning. and when i turned it around to dry it with the hair dryer Coke came out de partout. Like, USB plugs and DVD roms, effectively soiling my work clothes.
this is worse than the time i left a morceau of chocolate on the keyboard of my asus and realize it melted only in the morning, crating an unholy-mess.
